Andy Barrett is a cardboard sculptor, collage artist and a DJ influenced by the sounds of Chicago, Berlin and Kingston. He is also our friend and frequent collaborator, who has contributed installation pieces and invaluable help to the past Sound Noir events. This mix here was recorded live at our Chapter 13 party last February, complete with crowd cheers and yells of joy – just listen closely and you can hear the good times roll!
Mike is one of our resident DJs and a certified record-head with a collection that spans soul-jazz-funk, hip-hop instrumentals and lots of hot disco records, which are mixed expertly on this here podcast. His is the original sound of NY!
A milestone for us – SN Podcast number 10 comes from our friend and frequent collaborator JM De Frias – a talented DJ and budding producer who also happens to run the highly-regarded New York label Sequencias and organize the Algo Rhythm parties together with Amaury Arias. One of Miguel’s unreleased productions has recently made it onto the Fabric Mix CD by Levon Vincent no less, so we are confident in saying that you’ll be hearing a lot about JM De Frias in the coming months and years. For now sit back and take in this exclusive mix full of surprises, that is a 2nd part of Miguel’s project “Embrace”.
After the super good times of the 3-year anniversary we’ve kept ourselves too busy to breathe, but at last Sound Noir is excited to announce that very soon we’ll be welcoming DJ Sprinkles back to New York. Terre is one of our favorite artists on this planet and we’re pretty sure that his phenomenal performance last year has won many of you over as well. This time we’re moving the whole affair into a cozy loft space where Thaemlitz will play an extended 4-hour set precluded by SN resident DJ’s Andrey and Jemina Vita. The location will be announced on the day of the event via email, but to keep up with the latest news visit FB event page.
