Sound Noir Podcast 005: Stuart Li aka Basic Soul Unit

9 January, 2011

We have a very special mix for you. This latest edition in our podcast series is by our August guest performer Stuart Li better known as Basic Soul Unit. Although Stuart in his BSU guise is famous for jacking dancefloor killers and mental workouts that utilize that classic dusty drum machine sound, his passion for music stems from a wider range of sounds that include latin rhythms, jazz tunes, funk, soul and melodic breaks. When we heard of his monthly Footprints night in Toronto, which he dedicates to playing music that influenced him and veers away from the traditional club sound, we immediately wanted to hear and share this other side of Stuart’s style. So here it is – an almost-hour-long sampling of music that inspires Basic Soul Unit. Get cozy with a hot drink and if you don’t have a fireplace this mix will help you stay warm in the freezing metropolis.
